Discussion 3 Part 1

Q 3-1 Discussion: Community Resources for Prevention and Early Intervention Group/section restrictions. Must post first. Subscribe This is a group activity. For more information on groups, please see About Group Work. In this discussion, you will share information about prevention and early intervention resources in your community and learn about the resources available in the communities your peers live in. Conduct a search in your area for early intervention services. You might want to look on the internet and also check with your local health department or other groups that offer intervention-related services. Compile a list of several services available in your area, and share this list with your peers as your initial discussion post. What are the benefits and limitations of the resources you have identified? Remember that for all discussions, you will not be able to see what your peers have written until after you have submitted your own initial post. As you respond to your peers, compare the services available in different areas. Why do you think some of your peers have different services in their areas? This task will help you to prepare for completing Final Project I: Early Intervention Plan (due in Module Three) as well as Final Project II : Residential Discharge Plan (due in Module Seven). Refer to the Discussion Rubric PDF for directions on completing this discussion. Rubrics • Discussion Rubric: Undergraduate

I live in Jackson, TN which is the largest town in Madison County with a population of 68,114 (U.S. Census Bureau, n.d.). The Jackson-Madison Prevention Coalition in Jackson, TN was formed with the goal of reducing substance use among the youth population in the community by offering prevention classes and connections to evidence based resources in the county (About, n.d.). I like that the coalition works with the community on preventing substance use and also has individuals in recovery to link community members to resources based on their individual and family needs.
